Sulthan’s Sponge Pudding with Orange Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 150g of all-purpose flour
  • 150g of granulated sugar
  • 150ml of milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 100g of unsalted butter
  • 200ml of fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Zest of 1 orange

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Oven
  • Saucepan
  • Serving Dish

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  • Melt the butter and gently fold it into the batter until fully incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  • While the pudding is baking, prepare the orange sauce by combining the orange juice, cornstarch, and zest in a saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Once the pudding is done baking, let it cool for a few minutes before serving with the warm orange sauce drizzled on top.
